At the Windhoek International Airport you will be met by a representative of the Car Hire Company that will take you directly to Windhoek. You will then be met by your guide and he will assist you with the procedure of receiving your vehicle. Thereafter, the Guide will discuss your tour in detail with you. Once all has been discussed, the Guide will accompany you to your Guesthouse, where you can relax and enjoy the afternoon at own leisure.
For dinner all tour participants will enjoy their first night in Namibia together at a local restaurant.
Today your big adventure starts. After breakfast you will be met by the guide at the guesthouse, where a short briefing takes place. Then we will depart Windhoek and drive in convoy, heading mostly in the northwesterly direction of Namibia. In the afternoon we will reach our destination, the beautiful Spitzkoppe.
Here we will set up camp at the foot of the mighty Spitzkoppe mountain and enjoy the first night under the starry skies of Namibia.
Spitzkoppe is the Matterhorn of Namibia. It is a mountain of volcanic origin, which surmounts its surroundings at about 700 meters. The mighty granite bubbles form a spectacular landscape, which is very popular with photographers and climbers. Here you can visit ancient rock engravings from the Bushmen tribe, the famous “Rock Pool”, which is sometimes filled with water in the rainy season, and the “Rock Arch” which is also a famous photo opportunity.
Today we start our off-road adventure through the remote Damaraland. We will drive in convoy towards Brandberg, the tallest mountain in Namibia. On route we can have possible sightings of desert elephants, lions, rhinos and other desert animals. In the late afternoon we will set up our first wild camp in a remote and secret gorge, which is a geological wonder. Surrounded by rugged mountain ranges and steep slopes, which dry valleys dominate.
The Zebra Canyon is not visited by many people, making the Canyon a perfect place to set up our wild camp. The Zebra Canyon is located near Brandberg and is part of the Ugab River. The area is a geological wonderland and you can spend hours looking at its beauty.
Our wild bush camp will have a mobile shower and a bush toilet. We’ll sleep safely in roof tents on top of the cars, and enjoy a perfect night under the stars, with no artificial lights that spoil the view. The evening will be enjoyed around the campfire with the tranquility of the desert, while your guide prepares dinner on the warm coals.
After a restful night in our tents, we enjoy a hearty breakfast. Our journey continues in a northerly direction, across the fascinating desert landscapes of Damaraland. Later we drive through a dry river, where desert elephants are often seen. You have to be very careful, of course, because the large mammals can hide behind the bushes and bushes. These large, powerful animals should be viewed from a safe distance.
We spend another night in the deserted wilderness and enjoy the freedom.
We will depart from our first wild camp, on a small off-road trail, through a dry riverbed and go in search of the desert adapted animals. With a little luck we could see the mighty desert elephants, lions, black rhinos, giraffes and a further variety of animals in front of our lenses. Eventually we will cross over stony slopes to the beautiful Palmwag Campsite. Here, the two swimming pools are very welcoming after a warm morning in the desert, and perfect for an afternoon of leisure.
Today’s route leads us north over dusty gravel roads. We will spend the next few days driving though communal land, in other words “through real the real Africa”. On the way, we will pass small villages, inhabited by various native tribes. Be aware when driving, as cattle, small livestock and people are often on the side of the road. About 30km before the town called, “Opuwo”, we will pass a mountainous landscape on which the rare baobab trees grow. A quick stop here to admire these mighty giants will definitely also occur. The journey continues to Opuwo, where we will fill up our vehicles. A beautiful lodge awaits us on top of a hill overlooking the Opuwo.
Today we depart from Opuwo and head west, passing small Himba villages next to the gravel roads, until we reach Etanga. From here, challenging 4×4 routes lead us through the highlands of the Kaokoland, until we reach the point where the trail descends. An adrenaline rushing, short pass leads us slowly into the lower steppes of Kaokoland. The beautiful campsite is located next to a mountain that is crisscrossed with marble veins. Your guide will take care of the campsite while you take the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful area.
Today, there is another demanding stage on the program. A mountain pass has to be conquered with a lot of patience and driving skill.
In the afternoon we reach the beautiful Hartmanns Valley. The night is spent in the wild by the campfire.
The next morning we will continue north, through a rocky pass, which leads us to a dry and sandy riverbed. A track on the eastern side of the riverbed leads us further over small, red dunes and grassy areas to the Kunene river, the bordering river between Namibia and Angola. Here our beautiful accommodation for the night awaits, Okahirongo River Camp, where we can take the afternoon to relax.
The riverbed leads us southwards today. Mostly on small rocky slopes, we will pass over the mountains and valleys of the beautiful Kaokoland, surrounded by fascinating nature. There are a few distinctive waypoints in this area. One of them is the “Rooi Drom”, which is a red painted barrel. Here we turn off towards Marble Camp. A challenging 4×4 mountain pass leads us to an abandoned marble rail, where we can stop for a quick rest and light lunch.
Thereafter, we continue our journey further on rocky roads that lead us to the Khumib River. The dry riverbed of the Khumib serves us as a perfect Wild camp tonight. We will set up our camp under an ancient ancestral tree and enjoy the silence and freedom that nature offers us.
Today we will spend most of our time on thick sandy roads as we drive through various dry rivers. These dry rivers are also the lifeline for various wildlife in these arid areas, as they find water and food here. Today we set up our last wild camp, on the edge of one of these dry riverbeds and enjoy the tranquility of this deserted area.
After a good breakfast we will continue our journey. We will drive on off-road slopes in the Hoanib River, always on the lookout for the wildlife that inhabits the area. Around noon, we will pass by a spring that flows over a waterfall into a naturally formed pool. This is the perfect place to cool off before departing to the lodge. In the evening we will set up camp at the Khowarib Lodge.
Today we will drive through Damaraland, with a view of the huge Brandberg. The path leads us further into to the center of Namibia, to the beautiful Erindi Private Nature Reserve. Here we can participate on a guided game drive or a variety of other activities in the afternoon. If you would like, you could also spend the afternoon at the pool or at the lodge’s terrace observing animals at the waterhole.
After our breakfast today, we drive over good tar and gravel roads to the wonderful wildlife of Mount Etjo Safari Lodge. This lodge is located in a huge private nature reserve and is home to many different species of animals that can be found in southern Africa.
The lodge is located on a small lake with hippos and also serves as a water source for the other wild animals. An afternoon safari drive and post-dinner lion feeding are a must here!
After a delicious breakfast we will drive back to Windhoek. Depending on the time of your departure flights, you will have to return your rental vehicle and there after you will be escorted to the International Airport near Windhoek.

You can watch the majestic animals that live in this barren landscape and defy the scorching heat.
Our beautiful wild camp is located near the massive Brandberg. A hill made of large granite balls without protection from the southwest wind, which often blows here in the afternoon. Today the adventure continues through the fascinating Damaraland, always looking for the desert animals that inhabit this area. Later in the day we arrive at the Palmwag Lodge camp site, where we can spend the afternoon by the pool or on a guided safari.
We will be driving on sandy ground most of the time today as we will spend the day in one of the most beautiful dry rivers in Namibia. These dry rivers are also the lifeline for various wild animals, as you will find water and food here. Today we set up our wild camp near such a river and enjoy the tranquility of this deserted area.
